Job Title: Farm Hand – Aquaculture (Fishery)

Job Description
- We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Farm Hand to support day-to-day operations at our fishery.
- The ideal candidate will assist in the care and management of fish stock, maintain equipment, support feeding and harvesting processes, and help ensure the facility remains clean and operational.
- No prior aquaculture experience is necessary, but a willingness to learn and work physically is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily feeding of fish stock following prescribed feed schedules
- Monitor water quality parameters (e.g., temperature, pH, oxygen levels) under supervision
- Help clean and maintain fish tanks, ponds, nets, and other aquaculture equipment
- Support harvesting, sorting, and processing of fish for the market
- Remove dead or diseased fish and report unusual behaviour or mortality promptly
- Help with pond preparation, stocking, grading, and sampling activities
- Maintain accurate logs of feeding, mortality, and growth (as required by the supervisor)
- Clean and sanitise work areas to ensure hygiene and biosecurity protocols are followed
- Assist with loading and unloading supplies, fish feed, and equipment
- Perform other general farm duties as assigned (e.g., clearing debris, basic repairs)
Qualifications
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Willingness to handle fish and work in wet, muddy, or slippery conditions
- Team player with good communication and listening skills
- Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures
- Previous farm or aquaculture experience is an added advantage, but not required
- Honest, reliable, and punctual
- Passionate about animals and nature
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail
- Willingness to learn aquaculture practices and grow within the role
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Fluency in English, Hausa and/or Yoruba.
