Job Overview

  • The successful candidate will play a critical role in assessing loan applications, evaluating creditworthiness, and monitoring portfolio quality across consumer/personal and SME loan segments.
  • This role requires a balance of sound credit judgment, data analysis, and risk management to ensure sustainable portfolio growth and minimal default rates.

Key Responsibilities
Credit Assessment & Underwriting:

  • Conduct comprehensive credit analysis of consumer and SME loan applications.
  • Review financial statements, cash flows, and bank statements to evaluate repayment capacity.
  • Ensure credit recommendations comply with internal risk policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Support loan approval process through detailed credit memos and risk assessments.
  • Recommend appropriate loan structures, pricing, and collateral requirements based on borrower risk profile.

Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Management:

  • Monitor loan portfolio performance and track key credit metrics such as PAR, NPL ratio, and default trends.
  • Identify early warning signals and recommend preventive or corrective actions.
  • Support the development and refinement of credit risk models, scoring frameworks, and policy updates.

Reporting & Insights:

  • Prepare regular reports on credit portfolio quality, loan performance, and risk exposure for management review.
  • Provide insights on customer behaviour, loan utilization, and sectoral performance trends.
  • Collaborate with collections and recovery teams to reduce delinquency and improve overall credit performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years’ experience in credit analysis, credit risk, or underwriting within a microfinance bank, fintech, or financial institution.
  • Solid understanding of credit principles, risk assessment methodologies, and lending to individuals and SMEs.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in MS Excel and financial analysis.
  • Working knowledge of loan management systems or credit decision platforms is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and report-writing skills.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work effectively under pressure.
