Job Title: Accountant
Location: Lagos
Job Summary
- Our client, a fast-growing company that imports and markets premium wallpapers and architectural moldings from Europe, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to manage its financial operations.
- The ideal candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting, tax compliance, and effective cost management to support business growth and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Record, reconcile, and maintain accurate financial transactions in the accounting system.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
- Conduct regular bank reconciliations and maintain proper ledger accounts.
- Monitor cash flow and prepare cash forecasts to guide management decisions.
Tax & Compliance:
- Prepare and file VAT, PAYE, WHT, and Company Income Tax returns in line with FIRS and LIRS regulations.
- Maintain compliance with all statutory obligations and liaise with regulatory bodies when required.
- Support the annual external audit process by preparing necessary schedules and documentation.
Accounts Receivable & Payable:
- Manage invoicing, payment collection, and credit control to ensure healthy cash flow.
- Review supplier invoices, verify supporting documents, and ensure timely vendor payments.
Inventory & Import Accounting:
- Track inventory movement and reconcile stock levels with financial records.
- Compute landed costs for imported goods, including freight, customs duty, and clearing charges.
- Ensure accurate cost allocation for imported products to maintain correct margins.
Budgeting & Analysis:
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Analyze variances between actual results and budgets to support strategic decisions.
- Provide financial insights to management for cost control and profitability improvement.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in an import, trading, or construction-related company.
- Strong understanding of Nigerian tax laws and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or Zoho Books).
- Strong Excel skills for data analysis and financial modeling.
- Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or in-progress) is an added advantage.
