We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Internal Auditor 

Locations: Abuja (FCT) & Lagos

Description

  • The internal auditor will beresponsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls, and governance processes across various operations, including finance, inventory, and compliance.
  • His or her main duties include conducting audits on sales, cash handling, and inventory, ensuring compliance with food safety, tax, and labor laws, identifying and mitigating risks, and reporting findings and recommendations to management.

Key responsibilities
Financial and operational audits:

  • Review daily sales, cash, and void/cancellation transactions to detect irregularities.
  • Perform regular audits of cash handling, sales reports, and expense records for accuracy.
  • Audit stock levels, variances, and wastage to prevent losses.
  • Inspect the usage and maintenance of company assets, including kitchen equipment and POS systems.

Risk and compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all outlets.
  • Monitor adherence to regulatory requirements, such as tax, health & safety, and labor laws.
  • Identify potential risks and recommend strategies for mitigation.
  • Investigate any instances of fraud, theft, or financial irregularities.

Reporting and recommendations:

  • Prepare and present clear audit reports to senior management, detailing findings, risks, and recommendations.
  • Follow up on the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Provide advisory support to strengthen operational controls.

System and data analysis:

  • Review system-generated reports and flag suspicious transactions.
  • Analyze data to identify patterns, trends, and potential issues.
  • Check for proper documentation and reconciliation of reports and records.

Qualifications, experience and skills

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field will be required
  • Professional certifications like ACA, ACCA, CIA, or CISA will be an advantage
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar role is required with at least 2 years of experience in a QSR or hospitality industry.
  • Strong understanding of QSR-specific processes, including inventory and cash handling, is crucial.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential
  • High integrity, objectivity, reporting and attention to detail are necessary
