Job Title: Training Manager

Location: Abuja

Reports To: [Executive Director / HR Manager / Program Director]

Job Description

  • The Training Manager will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing training and capacity-building programs that enhance staff, members, and stakeholder skills.
  • The role focuses on identifying training needs, developing curricula, coordinating facilitators, and evaluating training effectiveness to ensure organizational growth and performance improvement.

Responsibilities
Training Strategy & Planning:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training and capacity-building strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Conduct training needs assessments for staff, members, and partners.
  • Prepare annual training plans, budgets, and schedules.

Program Design & Delivery:

  • Design training curricula, manuals, and learning materials.
  • Coordinate and facilitate workshops, seminars, and on-the-job training sessions.
  • Engage internal and external trainers, consultants, and resource persons.
  • Ensure training programs are inclusive and responsive to gender and youth needs.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting:

  • Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness using feedback, assessments, and performance indicators.
  • Prepare training reports, impact assessments, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate training records and databases.

Stakeholder & Resource Management:

  • Collaborate with departments, partners, and donors to align training objectives.
  • Manage training logistics, venues, materials, and participant coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with donor, organizational, and regulatory requirements.

Capacity Development & Innovation:

  • Introduce modern learning approaches (e-learning, blended learning, mentoring).
  • Support leadership development and succession planning initiatives.
  • Continuously update training content to reflect industry best practices.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Number and quality of training programs delivered.
  • Improvement in staff or member performance post-training.
  • Training satisfaction and feedback scores.
  • Timely submission of training plans and reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in training, learning & development, or capacity-building roles.
  • Proven experience in curriculum development and adult learning methodologies.
  • Experience working with NGOs, cooperatives, development projects, or corporate organizations is an added advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to assess training needs and measure learning outcomes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and learning management tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups.

Work Environment:

  • Office-based with periodic field travel.
  • May require weekend or extended hours during training programs.
