Job Title: Agricultural Field Operations Officer / Farm Agent

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To: Farm Manager / Agricultural Field Operations Lead

Job Summary

  • The Agricultural Field Operations Officer will be responsible for the daily execution of BSF farming activities, including insect rearing, feeding, harvesting, sanitation, and record keeping.
  • The role requires strict adherence to company policies, safety standards, and relevant Nigerian agricultural and labour regulations.
  • This role is ideal for an agriculture professional who is passionate about sustainable farming and ready for hands-on field work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out daily BSF farming activities such as breeding, feeding, harvesting, and larvae processing
  • Monitor BSF growth stages and report abnormalities, losses, or production challenges
  • Ensure proper waste handling, feeding schedules, hygiene, and biosecurity standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of farm facilities
  • Accurately record daily production activities, inputs, outputs, and observations
  • Prepare and submit routine field and production reports
  • Operate basic farm tools and equipment responsibly and report faults when identified
  • Assist in supervising farm hands and ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures
  • Comply with workplace health and safety rules and company policies
  • Perform other farm-related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Requirements
Education:

  • Minimum of HND in Agriculture, Agricultural Technology, Animal Science, Crop Science, Environmental Science, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 1–3 years of experience in agricultural field operations, livestock, or insect farming
  • Experience in BSF farming is an advantage but not mandatory.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Ability to perform physical farm work in field conditions
  • Basic knowledge of agricultural production processes
  • Record keeping and simple reporting skills
  • Good observation, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work within standard operating procedures
  • Teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a field-based role requiring work in farm environments. Working days are Monday to Saturday, with possible extended hours during peak periods. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided where applicable.
