Job Description:
The Procurement Manager will lead the procurement team and oversee all purchasing activities within the organization. Responsibilities include identifying potential suppliers, assessing their capabilities, and negotiating contracts to secure favorable terms and pricing. The manager will oversee the creation and management of purchase orders for both local and foreign supplies, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of goods and services. Cost management is a critical part of the role, requiring analysis of costs, identification of cost-saving opportunities, and implementation of strategies to optimize procurement spending. Supplier management involves developing and maintaining relationships with key suppliers, monitoring their performance, and addressing any issues or concerns. The role also requires collaboration with other departments to forecast demand and maintain optimal inventory levels. Compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies is mandatory. The manager will identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop contingency plans to mitigate them. Providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the procurement team to foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment is essential. The role includes generating reports and analyzing data to evaluate procurement performance, identify trends, and make informed decisions. Continuous review and improvement of procurement processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness are expected.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.

Minimum of 7 years’ experience in procurement or supply chain management with demonstrated leadership ability.

Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria or certification in supply chain management is an added advantage.

Effective team leadership skills.

Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills.

High integrity and ethical standards.

Working knowledge of procurement processes, supply chain dynamics, and relevant regulations.

Familiarity with market trends and supplier management best practices.
