Job Description:
The Public Relations Officer will be responsible for managing the communication flow between the Abia State Government and the public. This includes drafting and distributing press releases, organizing press conferences, and coordinating public events to promote government policies and programs. You will liaise with media houses, journalists, and community leaders to ensure accurate and timely dissemination of information. Monitoring media coverage and public opinion will be essential to adjust communication strategies proactively. The role also involves crisis communication management, ensuring that the government’s messaging remains consistent and transparent during emergencies or controversies. You will collaborate closely with various government departments to align messaging and support public engagement initiatives.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.

At least 3 years’ experience in public relations, preferably within government or public sector.

Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.

Strong media relations and stakeholder engagement experience.

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

Proficiency in media monitoring and social media tools.

High level of discretion and professionalism.
