We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Primary School Teacher

Location: GRA, Port Harcourt – Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time
Department: Academic / Education
Reports To: Head Teacher / School Administrator

Job Purpose

  • The Primary School Teacher is responsible for delivering effective teaching and learning to pupils in lower and upper primary classes.
  • The role involves creating a stimulating learning environment, preparing lesson plans, assessing pupil progress, and fostering the overall intellectual, social, and moral development of children.

Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning:

  • Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans in line with the school curriculum.
  • Use diverse teaching methods to cater to different learning styles and abilities.
  • Encourage active participation, creativity, and critical thinking among pupils.

Classroom Management:

  • Maintain discipline and a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Promote positive behavior and respect among pupils.
  • Monitor daily attendance and punctuality.

Assessment & Evaluation:

  • Assess pupils’ progress through tests, assignments, and observations.
  • Provide regular feedback to pupils and parents on performance.
  • Keep accurate records of pupils’ academic and behavioral progress.

Child Development & Welfare:

  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and moral development.
  • Identify learning difficulties or special needs and provide necessary support or referrals.
  • Encourage teamwork, cooperation, and respect within the classroom.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with colleagues, parents, and school management to support pupils’ growth.
  • Attend staff meetings, training, and workshops as required.
  • Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and community programs.

Professional Duties:

  • Keep updated with new teaching methods, trends, and educational best practices.
  • Uphold the school’s policies, values, and standards of conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent qualification.
  • Professional teaching certification (where applicable).
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of primary school curriculum.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • Creativity, patience, and a passion for teaching children.
  • Basic ICT/computer skills for teaching and reporting.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position.
  • Classroom and school environment.
  • Occasional participation in extracurricular activities, school trips, or events.

Salary
N70,000 – N80,000 monthly.
