We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Accounts & Finance Manager
Location: Yola, Adamawa
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Description
- The Accounts & Finance Manager is the backbone of financial stability — ensuring the hotel collects revenue properly, pays staff/suppliers on time, stays compliant with Nigerian tax laws, and remains profitable.
- Because the hotel is relatively small, this manager is usually hands-on (handling bookkeeping directly) while also supervising a cashier or accounts clerk if available.
Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Daily Revenue Tracking: Monitor income from rooms, restaurant, bar, banquet hall, and other outlets.
- Cash Flow Management: Ensure enough liquidity for daily operations (staff wages, supplies, utilities).
- Daily/Monthly Reports: Prepare revenue, expenses, profit/loss statements for management.
- Budgeting: Develop annual budgets, track variances, and adjust as needed.
- Forecasting: Predict occupancy-based revenues and plan expenses accordingly.
Accounting & Bookkeeping:
- Ledger Maintenance: Keep accurate records of all transactions (cash, POS, bank transfers).
- Bank Reconciliation: Match hotel bank statements with recorded income/expenses.
- Accounts Payable: Manage supplier/vendor invoices, negotiate payment terms.
- Accounts Receivable: Follow up on corporate clients, travel agencies, or event organizers who book on credit.
- Asset Management: Track hotel assets (furniture, equipment, linen) and depreciation schedules.
Payroll & Staff Compensation:
- Salary Processing: Calculate and pay staff salaries (housekeeping, front office, marketing, etc.).
- Benefits & Allowances: Handle allowances, overtime, and bonuses.
- Compliance: Deduct and remit statutory obligations (e.g., PAYE tax, pensions if applicable).
Taxation & Compliance:
- Nigerian Tax Compliance: Ensure timely filing of VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), PAYE, and Corporate Income Tax.
- Liaison with Regulators: Work with FIRS, local government, and auditors during inspections.
- Internal Controls: Implement checks to prevent fraud, theft, or revenue leakage.
Cost Control:
- Expense Monitoring: Review daily purchases (food supplies, cleaning materials, utilities).
- Supplier Negotiations: Source cost-effective suppliers in Yola/Abuja, ensure competitive pricing.
- Operational Audits: Audit restaurant/bar sales to prevent underreporting by staff.
- Utility Management: Track diesel/generator expenses (common in Yola due to unreliable electricity).
Qualifications
- Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 5 years experience.
Application Closing Date
