We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Associate Counsel (Litigation)
Location: Okiti Pupa, Ondo
Employment Type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients in courts, tribunals, and other dispute resolution forums.
- Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, affidavits, motions, written addresses, and briefs.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and prepare well-reasoned opinions and memoranda.
- Attend court proceedings and manage case files through all stages of litigation.
- Liaise with external counsel, regulatory bodies, and government agencies when necessary.
- Provide strategic advice to clients and the firm’s management on litigation risks and dispute resolution strategies.
- Participate in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) proceedings.
- Maintain accurate case records, ensure timely filings, and uphold procedural compliance.
- Supervise and mentor junior associates and legal interns where applicable.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 5 – 6 years post-call experience in a reputable law firm or corporate legal department, with strong exposure to litigation and dispute resolution.
- Proven track record of handling court matters independently.
- Excellent legal drafting, research, and analytical skills.
- Strong communication, advocacy, and interpersonal abilities.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research tools.
