Job Title: Building Automation Officer

Job Summary
- The Building Automation Officer will be responsible for the design, installation, programming, commissioning, and maintenance of smart home and building automation systems in all our properties.
- This role requires a strong understanding of various automation technologies, networking, and the ability to integrate diverse systems to create seamless, intelligent living environments for our clients.
- The specialist will work closely with architects, and construction teams to ensure that automation solutions meet project requirements and enhance user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with architects, and interior designers to understand automation needs and propose suitable solutions.
- Design comprehensive building automation systems, including lighting, HVAC, security, entertainment, access control, and energy management.
- Prepare detailed system schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications.
- Oversee and, where necessary, participate in the physical installation of automation hardware, sensors, and network infrastructure.
- Ensure proper cabling, mounting, and connectivity of all system components.
- Integrate various sub-systems (e.g., KNX, Crestron, Control4, Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi) into a unified automation platform.
- Develop and implement custom programming logic for automation scenarios and user interfaces.
- Configure and calibrate sensors, actuators, and controllers.
- Thoroughly test and commission all aspects of the automation system to ensure full functionality and client satisfaction.
- Provide post-installation support, diagnose, and resolve technical issues related to automation systems.
- Perform routine maintenance and system upgrades as required.
- Offer training and guidance to staff on how to operate and maximize the automation systems.
- Maintain accurate records of system configurations, programming code, and maintenance activities.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry best practices in residential automation.
- Ensure all installations comply with relevant electrical codes, safety standards, and project specifications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3-5+ years of experience in the design, installation, and programming of residential building automation or smart home systems.
- Proven experience with leading automation platforms (e.g., Crestron, Control4, Savant, KNX, Lutron, AMX) is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, Ethernet) and their application in automation.
- Familiarity with various communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, BACnet, Zigbee, Z-Wave).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural drawings, electrical diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., industry-specific automation platform certifications) are a significant advantage.
