Job Title: Business Development Manager (BDM) – Operations & Maintainance (O&M)
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Job Description
- The Business Development Manager (BDM) – O&M, New Service Business will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities for Operations & Maintenance (O&M) services within the Process Management Division of AOS Orwell.
- This role focuses on growing the service business portfolio, driving customer acquisition, and positioning AOS Orwell as the partner of choice for long-term O&M solutions across the oil & gas, energy, and industrial sectors.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement business strategies to expand the O&M service business in alignment with divisional growth objectives.
- Identify, qualify, and pursue opportunities for long-term service agreements (LTSAs), maintenance contracts, upgrades, retrofits, and aftermarket services.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders (technical, procurement, and executive level) within target client organizations.
- Present O&M capabilities and value propositions to potential clients, securing a position for AOS Orwell during pre-tender stages.
- Lead preparation of proposals, bids, and quotations for O&M projects, ensuring commercial competitiveness and compliance with company policies.
- Negotiate terms and conditions with customers to maximize profitability while ensuring client satisfaction.
- Work with finance and legal teams to develop commercial models and risk assessments.
- Partner with operations, engineering, and project teams to develop technically sound, cost-effective, and sustainable service solutions.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to promote O&M capabilities and create targeted campaigns.
- Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and provide accurate monthly forecasts and business reports to management.
- Track win/loss performance and gather market intelligence to refine future strategies.
- Forges strong relationships with O&M key players in the industry that may influence business
- Analyzes, monitors, and reports on competitive position of O&M asset managements and service providers
- Perform site due diligence visits as necessary and provide comprehensive reports
- Provide financial inputs (O&M numbers) to the financial modeler with respect to the development of the financial model for the potential O&M opportunity
- Compliance with HSE and regulatory requirements.
- To liaise with other BUs/ divisions (Finance, Legal, HSE, Operations etc) to ensure a fully developed O&M proposal to be submitted to the client.
Other responsiblities:
Growth / Profitability:
- Deliver and or exceed the annual EBITDA targets in NSB.
- Review performance with direct reports monthly.
Customer / Stakeholder Management:
- Develop key relationships with all senior decision makers in the customer base
- Drive organic growth of existing services with new customers and extension of services to existing customers.
Process:
- Zero non-conformance in process and procedures
- Customer Feedback.
- People: Deliver resourcing, performance management, talent development, succession planning and competence assurance targets.
- Internal: All Service Business Units.
- External: All Clients.
- Safety: LTI, RTA, Stop Cards and Near-miss Reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Process Engineering.
- MBA or business-related postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 10 – 15 years experience in business development, sales, or commercial roles within O&M, oilfield services, EPC, or process automation industries.
- Proven track record of winning service contracts and managing key client accounts.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication and strong negotiation skills.
- Strong knowledge of strategic and quantitative analysis.
- Strong Customer Relationship Management.
- People Management & Leadership Skills.
