Job Title: Electrical Shift In-Charge
Location: Gujeni, Kaduna
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Summary
- We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Electrical Shift Incharge to oversee electrical operations during assigned shifts at our mining site in Kaduna.
- The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems and maintenance, with the ability to supervise teams and ensure smooth functioning of equipment and power supply systems critical to mining operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of electricians and technicians during the shift.
- Ensure uninterrupted power supply and efficient operation of all electrical equipment and control systems.
- Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and timely troubleshooting of electrical issues.
- Monitor and maintain electrical panels, transformers, MCCs, PLCs, and VFDs.
- Maintain shift logs and handover reports for ongoing issues and completed tasks.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and company policies.
- Collaborate with mechanical and production teams for coordinated plant operations.
- Lead emergency response efforts for electrical faults and breakdowns.
- Report all incidents and suggest improvements to reduce downtime and hazards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 3 – 6 years of hands-on experience in a similar role, preferably within the mining, manufacturing, or heavy industrial sectors.
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in reading electrical drawings, using diagnostic tools, and working with PLC/SCADA systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work in shifts, including nights and weekends, as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of energy management practices in mining operations.
- Certification in electrical safety or maintenance (e.g., HSE, OSHA) is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with SAP or other CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software.
