An indigenous oil and gas company is recruiting suitable candidates to fill the position below:

Job Title: Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer

Location:Port Harcourt, Rivers

Job Summary

  • The HSE Officer will be responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe work environment by implementing effective health, safety, and environmental policies, conducting regular inspections, and ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across company sites.
  • Ensure compliance with all HSE laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Organize and deliver safety training and awareness sessions for employees and contractors.
  • Investigate and report all incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
  • Maintain up-to-date HSE documentation and records.
  • Promote a culture of safety consciousness and continuous improvement.
  • Support the operations team in implementing best practices for environmental protection and workplace safety.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies and ensure timely submission of HSE reports.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Environmental Science, Engineering, Safety Management, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of relevant HSE experience, preferably within the Oil & Gas, Energy, or Industrial sector.
  • Certification in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH, ISPON, OSHA, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
  • Good knowledge of Nigerian HSE regulations and standards.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
