We are seeking a proactive and experienced LitigationCounselto join our Legal team and handle the company’s dispute resolution and litigation matters across Nigeria.

Job Title: Litigation Counsel
Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time (Onsite)
Role Summary
- The Litigation Counsel will manage all litigation and dispute-related matters for OPay.
- The role requires strong advocacy skills, sound legal judgment, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal teams and external counsel to safeguard the company’s interests.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle all stages of litigation, including pre-action, filing, hearings, and enforcement
- Draft, review, and file court processes, affidavits, motions, and related legal documents
- Represent the company in court and manage relationships with external counsel
- Provide legal opinions, guidance, and strategies on litigation and dispute matters
- Support settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes
- Advise business units on litigation risks, regulatory issues, and preventive legal measures
- Maintain an up-to-date record of cases, legal documentation, and proceedings
- Monitor developments in case law and regulations that may affect company operations
- Assist in internal investigations and regulatory responses when required
Requirements
- Qualifications & Experience
- LLB and BL (must be called to the Nigerian Bar)
- Minimum of 3 years post-call experience in active litigation practice, preferably within a top-tier law firm or corporate legal department
- Proven experience managing commercial and regulatory litigation
- Strong understanding of Nigerian laws and fintech industry regulations
