Treasure Chest School is a Montessori preschool and primary school. Our pedagogical approachfor the preschool is based on the Montessori method of education which is a child-centred education. Our pedagogy in the primary is based on the British- Nigerian blended curriculum. We cater to children between the age of 6 months and 11years that is up to Keystage 2. Our prepared environment is clean, homely, and equipped with state-of-the-art materials and seasoned educators. We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Lower Primary Teacher
Location: Ajah, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Purpose
- The Lower Primary Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, age-appropriate instruction to pupils in the early years of primary education. The role focuses on building strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, social skills, and emotional development in a safe, nurturing learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning:
- Plan and deliver creative, interactive lessons aligned with the school curriculum and educational standards.
- Teach core subjects including English, Mathematics, Basic Science, Social Studies, and Creative Arts.
- Use diverse teaching strategies to support different learning styles and abilities.
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching aids, and classroom materials.
- Encourage curiosity, creativity, and active participation among pupils.
Classroom Management:
- Create a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment.
- Maintain discipline using age-appropriate behaviour management techniques.
- Support pupils’ social, emotional, and moral development.
Assessment & Reporting:
- Assess pupils’ academic progress through classwork, tests, and observations.
- Keep accurate records of pupils’ performance and development.
- Prepare report cards and provide constructive feedback to pupils and parents.
Pastoral Care & Safeguarding:
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of pupils at all times.
- Identify learning difficulties or behavioural concerns and report appropriately.
- Support pupils with special learning needs in collaboration with school management.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians on pupils’ progress and behaviour.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers and school staff.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and school activities.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of NCE, B.Ed, or B.A/B.Sc with PGDE in Education or a related field.
- 1–3 years teaching experience in a primary school (preferred).
- Sound knowledge of early childhood and lower primary teaching methods.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- Patience, empathy, and passion for working with young children.
