We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Managing Editor
Location: Ogba, Lagos
About the Role
- We seek an experienced Managing Editor to lead our 2417 newsroom through Nigeria’s dynamic media landscape.
- The ideal candidate will combine exceptional editorial judgment with strong leadership to drive journalistic excellence and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all print and digital editorial operations
- Maintain rigorous editorial standards and deadlines
- Optimize workflows to improve efficiency
- Manage and mentor editorial staff
- Coordinate breaking news coverage
- Contribute to newsroom strategy and innovation
KPIs
- Timely end accurate delivery of daily newspaper content
- Minimum of 2 exclusive/feature stories per week coordinated from the newsroom
- Minimum of 1 investigative/special report monthly curated and supervised
- Editorial quality score * based on internal reviews
- Zero missed deadlines for print or digital publishing
- Staff supervision: weekly feedback and mentoring reports
- Income generation for the organization.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years in newspaper/newsroom leadership
- Proven track record in high-pressure editorial environments
- Strong network of industry contacts
- Excellent writing and editing skills (samples required)
- Experience mentoring and managing teams.
