Job Title: Mechanical Pipeline Engineer

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Role Overview

  • We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Pipeline Engineer to lead and oversee the design, construction, and commissioning associated with oil and gas pipeline projects.
  • The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, project management skills, and a proactive approach to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of the pipeline infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Engineering: Lead the technical design and engineering of the gas pipeline, including route selection, pipeline sizing, material selection, and integrity assessments.
  • Project Management: Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met within scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Standards & Compliance: Ensure all engineering activities adhere to applicable industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
  • Construction Oversight: Provide technical support during construction, conduct site inspections, and resolve engineering issues promptly.
  • Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality control procedures to maintain high standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and as-built documentation for project records and regulatory submissions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in pipeline engineering, with significant exposure to gas pipeline projects.
  • Proven track record of leading pipeline design and construction activities.
  • Strong knowledge of pipeline design codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.4/B31.8, API 5L, API 1104, ISO), codes, and safety protocols.
  • Experience with pipeline integrity management and risk assessment.
  • Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, CAESAR, PIPS, or similar).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment and coordinate with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Competencies:

  • Experience in handling large-scale pipeline projects (onshore/offshore).
  • Familiarity with project management consultancy processes and workflows.
  • Experience in working with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
