Job Title: Project Services Lead
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time
Role Summary
- Development of strategic project plan and management of schedule, conduct project risk analysis and management plan, carry out resource budgeting, cost estimation/control, execution and review of project with measurable outcomes on achieving project goals efficiently.
Role and Responsibilities
Project Planning / Scheduling:
- Strategic project planning, develop and maintain project schedules.
- Ensure alignment of schedules with project scope, objectives and milestones.
- Monitor project progress and make adjustments when needed.
- Collaborate with project leads and teams for schedule accuracy.
- Conduct periodic reviews and updates to meet project requirement.
- Evaluate and improve planning processes, incorporating best practices to enhance overall project planning efficiency.
Resource Budgeting and Management:
- Work closely with Project lead and departmental heads to allocate resources effectively considering manpower, equipment and materials required for each project phase.
- Regularly access resource utilization and make recommendations.
- Optimize resource allocation to meet project timeline.
Risk Management:
- Conduct risk assessment and analysis of potential schedule impacts, providing mitigation strategies to address potential challenges ensuring project timelines are maintained.
- Create contingency plan for high impact risk.
- Collaborate with project team to implement risk management.
- Monitor risk triggers and update risk management plan accordingly.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Communicate project plans and updates to internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate with external partners and client for project alignment.
- Promptly address queries and concerns from stakeholders
- Conduct regular stakeholders meeting for status update.
- Manage stakeholder’s expectations through clear communication.
- Facilitate stakeholder’s decision in key project decisions.
Team Collaboration:
- Liaise with project team to gather input for planning process.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between project teams ensuring that everyone is aligned with project schedules and understands their respective roles and responsibilities.
- Conduct regular team meetings to discuss project timelines and goals.
- Resolve conflicts or bottlenecks affecting project progress.
- Foster a collaborative team environment to enhance efficiency.
Trainings:
- Develop comprehensive training plan and strategies that address learning needs of project services
- Deliver training sessions on project services for the team
- Evaluate training effectiveness through feedback, assessment, and performance metrics.
- Adjust sessions as needed to ensure maximum impact
- Coaching
Reporting:
- Generate regular progress report, presenting key schedule metrics, milestones achieved and upcoming deliverables to stakeholders or management.
- Communicate deviations from planned timelines and proposed solutions.
- Provide data-driven insights for decision-making.
- Ensure transparency and clarity in all project report.
Data analysis:
- Analyze project data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Regularly review project performance metrics
- Extract actionable insights from data analysis.
- Provide recommendations for optimizing project efficiency.
- Identify Key performance indicators (KPIs) for project success.
- Develop forecasting models for project timelines and resource needs.
- Utilize historical project data for accurate forecasting.
- Provide early warning for potential deviation from plan.
- Regularly update the forecast based on project progress.
- Collaborate with project managers to refine forecasting accuracy.
Decision Support:
- Provide decision support to project management team based on analysis.
- Offer insights on project feasibility and potential challenges.
- Collaborate with senior leadership in strategic decision-making.
- Assess the impact of decisions on project timelines and outcomes.
- Ensure decisions align with organizational goals.
- Facilitate decision-making processes within the project team.
Compliance:
- Ensure project planning adheres to industry standards and regulations.
- Regularly review planning documentation for compliance.
- Implement quality control measures for accurate planning.
- Ensure accuracy, reliability of project schedules and adherence to quality standards through conducting validation checks and auditing adherence to quality standards.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to enhance planning processes.
- Ensure documentation meets the organization’s quality assurance criteria.
Continuous Improvements:
- Capture lessons learned from completed projects.
- Conduct post-project reviews to assess successes and challenges.
- Document insights and recommendations for future projects.
- Share lessons learned with project teams and stakeholders.
- Implement improvements based on lessons learned.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning within the project management team.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement in planning and execution.
- Implement best practices for efficient project planning.
- Solicit feedback from project teams and stakeholders for improvement.
- Explore new technologies or tools to enhance planning efficiency.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a Relevant Discipline
- Masters Degree in Engineering, Project Management or any relevant field is an added advantage.
- PMP, APM, PRINCE2®, or equivalent Project Management Certification.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive project management experience in oil and gas industry.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of engineering standards, procurement strategies, and construction practices.
- Proficiency with project management software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, SAP, ERP etc.
- Ability to manage pressured situations and make critical decisions.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
