Job Title: SAP Power BI Senior Consultant

Location: India (Hyderabad)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: CoE BI and Analytics Lead  

Job Summary

  • Highly skilled and experienced Senior Power BI Consultant to join Dangote SAP Delivery Center in India.
  • The ideal candidate will be a technical expert with a strong consulting mindset, capable of designing, developing, and implementing robust and insightful Power BI solutions for diverse clients.
  • This role requires a blend of technical proficiency, strong communication skills, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into actionable data visualizations and reports.

Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Requirements Gathering:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their business needs, objectives, and data challenges.
  • Lead discussions and workshops to gather detailed business requirements for BI initiatives.
  • Translate complex business requirements into technical specifications for Power BI solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

BI Solution Design & Development:

  • Design and develop comprehensive Power BI solutions, including interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations.
  • Create and optimize complex data models (star schema, snowflake schema, etc.) within Power BI to ensure performance and scalability.
  • Develop and optimize DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) formulas for advanced calculations and measures.
  • Utilize Power Query for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) from various sources (SQL databases, Excel, cloud services like Azure Data Lake, etc.).
  • Implement row-level security (RLS) and other security measures to ensure data governance and compliance.
  • Integrate Power BI with other Microsoft technologies ( Azure Data Factory, Azure Analysis Services, Azure Synapse Analytics, Power Automate) where applicable.

Data Analysis & Insights:

  • Perform advanced data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
  • Utilize statistical methods and, optionally, machine learning techniques to enhance data-driven decision-making.
  • Present findings and recommendations to clients in a clear, concise, and compelling manner.

Performance Optimization & Support:

  • Optimize Power BI solutions for performance and scalability (data partitioning, incremental refresh, aggregations, composite models).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data accuracy, system performance, and user access.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for developed BI solutions.

Project Management & Leadership:

  • Manage Power BI projects from inception to completion, including scope definition, timeline management, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Mentor and guide junior Power BI developers and analysts, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for Power BI development and implementation.

Continuous Learning & Innovation:

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging BI technologies, and Power BI updates.
  • Recommend and implement new tools, techniques, and features to continuously improve our BI offerings and client solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of dedicated experience in Power BI development and implementation.
  • Proven expertise in Power BI architecture, including Power Query, DAX, Power BI Service, Power BI Desktop, and Power BI Mobile.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Expertise in advanced data modeling techniques (star schema, snowflake schema, dimensional modeling).
  • Demonstrated ability to design and create visually appealing, interactive, and user-friendly Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Solid understanding of ETL processes and data warehousing concepts.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and deliver actionable insights.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong client-facing skills, including presentation and negotiation abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and lead technical teams.

Desired Skills (Plus Points):

  • Advanced degrees or relevant certifications (Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, Certified Business Intelligence Professional).
  • Experience with other BI tools ( Tableau, Qlik Sense, Looker).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages ( Python, R) for advanced analytics.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms like Azure (Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Analysis Services).
  • Experience with data governance and data quality frameworks.
