Job Title: School Account Officer

Location: Ikorodu, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Description

  • The School Account Officer will support the finance department in managing the school’s daily financial operations across both campuses.
  • The role involves fee collection, record-keeping, banking, reconciliation, documentation, and assisting with financial reporting.
  • The Account Officer will ensure accuracy, transparency, and timely processing of all financial transactions while maintaining strong customer service with parents, vendors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Transactions & Record-Keeping:

  • Handle school fee collections, issue receipts, and update payment records daily.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial ledgers and student account profiles.
  • Enter financial data into accounting software and ensure proper documentation of all transactions.
  • Support the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly financial summaries for management.

Banking & Reconciliation:

  • Prepare and make bank deposits for both campuses.
  • Assist with bank reconciliation and follow up on outstanding transactions.
  • Maintain petty cash records and ensure timely retirement of expenses.

Support to the Accountant & Finance Team:

  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and audits.
  • Help with invoice verification, payment processing, and vendor documentation.
  • Track procurement requests, approved purchases, and payment processing.

Customer Service & Parent Support:

  • Respond to inquiries about school fees, balances, and payment options professionally.
  • Follow up on outstanding school fees and support the collection process.
  • Provide excellent customer service to parents, staff, and vendors.

Compliance & Record Security:

  • Ensure proper filing and safekeeping of all financial documents.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information at all times.
  • Follow all financial policies and procedures of the school.

Education & Experience

  • OND / HND / B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience, preferably in a school or service-based organization.
  • Experience with fee collection or front-desk accounting is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with accounting software is beneficial.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic accounting software.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work across two campuses when required.
  • Integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
