We are a Software Development firm in Nigeria, currently embarking on a digital transformation program for a leading public sector organization in Nigeria. The initiative involves the design and implementation of multiple enterprise management platforms to modernize critical operations and improve efficiency, accountability, and compliance.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Security Engineer

Location: Abuja
Employment Type: Contract, 6 Months (On-site, Hybrid)

Job Description

  • We are seeking an experienced Security Engineer to ensure that all systems are designed and implemented with strong security foundations.
  • This role will involve working closely with architects, developers, and client ICT staff to enforce data protection, access control, and compliance with national and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement security architecture across all systems.
  • Establish and enforce secure coding practices with development teams.
  • Implement and oversee role-based access control (RBAC), authentication, and authorization.
  • Conduct regular threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and penetration tests.
  • Ensure compliance with Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) and relevant standards (ISO 27001, OWASP, NIST).
  • Advise DevOps on secure CI/CD, container security, and infrastructure hardening.
  • Support incident response planning and disaster recovery design.
  • Provide security documentation and train client ICT staff.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience: 6 – 8+ years in IT security, with exposure to enterprise or public sector projects.
  • Certifications: CEH, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of network, application, and cloud security.
  • Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes security.
  • Proficiency in using vulnerability scanning and penetration testing tools.
  • Understanding of IAM, RBAC, and encryption techniques.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communicator, proactive, detail-oriented, able to work under pressure.
  • Availability: Full-time, with on-site presence in Abuja for the first 2 months.
