Job Title: Senior Operations Personnel – Marine Operations
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time
Role Overview
- We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Operations Personnel to oversee and manage our marine operations, with a strong focus on houseboats, barges, and fleet management.
- The successful candidate will ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations, while also supporting maintenance, logistics, and future fleet acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Operations Management:
- Oversee daily marine operations, including houseboats, barges, and support vessels.
- Monitor vessel movements, utilization, and performance to ensure operational efficiency.
- Supervise crew and ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company policies.
Maintenance & Safety:
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance for all marine assets.
- Implement safety and compliance checks in line with NIMASA, DPR, and international standards.
- Investigate and resolve operational issues, downtime, or breakdowns.
Procurement & Cost Control:
- Support procurement processes for spare parts, consumables, and marine equipment.
- Monitor budgets, cost control measures, and recommend cost-saving strategies.
Project & Logistics Support:
- Manage logistics related to deployment of houseboats/barges to offshore/riverine locations.
- Coordinate with project teams on marine support requirements.
- Assist in planning for future vessel acquisitions and upgrades.
Leadership & Reporting:
- Lead, mentor, and manage marine operations staff and crew.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on fleet performance, maintenance, and costs.
- Act as primary liaison with regulatory agencies, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree an advantage).
- 10+ years’ proven experience in marine operations, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or senior role.
- Strong knowledge of houseboat and barge operations in oil & gas or marine logistics environments.
- Familiarity with NIMASA regulations, marine HSE standards, and vessel maintenance planning.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with strong team management skills.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in ISM/ISPS, STCW, or Offshore Survival (BOSIET).
- Experience with marine procurement, contracting, and vendor management.
- Strong technical background in vessel maintenance, repairs, and operations.
- Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
